ASICS Gel-Kayano 14 sizing: fit, width and labels
Check the exact Gel-Kayano 14 article and the label system used by the retailer before choosing. A fitted shoe you own is useful context, but it does not establish a fixed half-size change.
Sources checked 25 October 2026. This is a sourced editorial guide; we have not performed our own wear test.
Does the Gel-Kayano 14 run true to size?
RunRepeat's owner-fit summary describes this model as true to size. Its reviewer found room for average-width feet in the tested pair. Those observations are a starting point to check against your measurements and fit preferences, not a guarantee for every foot or every release.
Identify the product, not just the Kayano name
The official ASICS Singapore example checked here is men's Sportstyle Gel-Kayano 14, Black/Pure Silver, article 1201A019-006, listed in standard D width and US sizes. This identifies one regional product; it does not prove global stock or the width options of all colorways.
Gel-Kayano 14 is distinct from the Gel-Kayano 31. Do not transfer the performance model's fit, width availability or measurements to this retro Sportstyle shoe. Verify adult, women's/unisex or children's scope on the exact listing.
What the width measurements mean
RunRepeat reports 100.3 mm at the widest part of the reviewed toe box and 78.5 mm near the big toe. The source explicitly marks these width tests as an older method and warns against comparing them with measurements taken using a different methodology. Although the review's overall header says methodology 2.2, those particular width values retain their older-method caveat.
They are not your foot-width chart, a measurement of every size or a basis for saying this shoe is wider than the 530 based on a newer internal mold test. We do not have a verified toe-height measurement to supply here. Evaluate toe clearance, forefoot pressure and heel movement in the actual pair.
Official label examples: check your region
The men's/unisex chart linked directly from the checked Singapore product gives the following examples. They describe corresponding labels, not recommended personal fit or live stock.
| US men/unisex | UK | EU | CM column |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 | 7 | 41.5 | 26 |
| 9 | 8 | 42.5 | 27 |
| 10 | 9 | 44 | 28 |
Use the complete chart attached to your seller's regional listing, especially for half sizes and women's labels. Do not treat the CM column as this reviewer's measured interior length or copy a men's US number directly into a women's selector.
Before selecting a size
- Record both foot measurements using the manufacturer's measuring instructions.
- Confirm the exact article, width code and regional label system.
- Try your usual socks, adjust the laces, stand and walk to assess toe room and heel hold.
- If the sides feel compressed but the shoe is long enough, consider the shape mismatch rather than assuming extra length is the answer.
- Check the seller's return terms before ordering.
Comparing with a shoe you own
Your Gel-1130 or another ASICS label is a reference, not proof that the same number fits identically. This guide does not establish a measured cross-model conversion. Keep label conversion separate from the fit of a particular pair.

Common questions
- Should everyone go half a size up?
- No universal increase is established here. Check the exact chart and your fit needs in the actual shoe.
- Does standard D mean wide?
- The checked men's product labels D as standard. Width letters depend on the product's sex-specific chart; do not treat D as a universal wide option.
- Are Kayano 14 and Kayano 31 interchangeable?
- No. They are different models; their charts and fit evidence must be checked separately.
