Birkenstock sizing uses EU whole sizes and a distinct footbed shape. “Runs big/small” myths usually ignore whether you are on a narrow vs regular footbed and whether the strap allows heel lift. Size to the footbed length chart, not to your Nike number.

Fit notes

• Your heel should sit in the cup with a small gap at the toe on many classic footbeds — that gap is intentional.
• Between sizes: consider sock thickness and whether the style is clog vs sandal.
• Width (regular/narrow) changes feel more than a half EU step for many feet.
